THE WATCHTOWER'S COMMENTARY ON THE ENTIRE BIBLE

This 1990 book is a revision of the Watchtower Bible and Tract Society's 1963 book, All Scripture is Inspired of God and Beneficial. They write in the introductory chapter, "After considering the 66 Bible books themselves, we devote some space to giving background information on the Bible. This includes studies on the geography of the Promised Land, the timing of events of the Bible, Bible translations, archaeological and other supporting evidences of the authenticity of the Bible, and proof of the Bible catalog... All of this is designed to heighten appreciation for the Bible as the most practical and beneficial book on earth today." (Pg. 12)

"There is no question as to who wrote Genesis. 'The book of the law of Moses' and similar references to the first five books of the Bible, of which Genesis is one, are to be found often from the time of Moses' successor, Joshua, onward." (Pg. 13)
"Also of real benefit to the student of the Scriptures is the study of patriarchal society that Genesis affords. Patriarchal society was a community form of family government that operated among God's people from Noah's day until the Law was given at Mount Sinai. Please do not buy this gem. ask for it next time Jehovah's Witnesses call on you. This book is advanced but helps in developing a deep appreciation for the Bible. The last chapters are very scholarly in nature for those interested in knowing how the New World Translation came into being.

About the Author

Adam Freeman is a professional programmer and the author of two early Java books, Programming the Internet with Java and Active Java, both published by Addison Wesley, as well as Java course materials. His recent experience architecting a green-field e-commerce platform has given him an in-depth understanding of the current security challenges facing those developing large scale distributed systems. Adam has previously worked for Netscape, Sun Microsystems and the NASDAQ stock exchange.

Allen Jones has been developing Windows solutions since 1990 and working with Windows NT and Win32 since 1993. He was one of the first MCSEs to qualify anywhere in the world. For the last 3 years, Allen has been developing e-commerce and security systems for large corporations and financial institutions. Out-of-date but still useful

Programming .NET Security covers 2 major topics of .NET Security: Code Access Security (CAS) and Cryptography. (CAS) was highly advertised feature of .NET when first editions of framework were released. Main goal of CAS was to provide highly configurable way how to protect your applications against malicious code. CAS as it was designed became quite complex and the book did a great job to explain how it works and how can be configured. Part 2 is mostly devoted into this technology. Unfortunately complexity of CAS forced Microsoft to change it substantially. Form .NET version 4.0 many parts of CAS are deprecated now. Especially Security Policy which was completely removed from the framework. So chapters 8 and 9 dealing about Security Policy are obsolete now. Chapter 6 Evidence and Code Identity is partly valid (Evidences are still part of .NET but because of Security Policy removal their importance is lower). Chapter 7 dealing with Permissions is mostly valid - just few methods of Permission class became obsolete. Chapters 10 and 11 (Role-Based Security, Isolated Storage) are completely valid in .NET 4.5 and provide good intro into these technologies.

Part 3 is all about Cryptography. This is the most useful part of the book covering Hashing, Symmetric and Asymmetric algorithms, Key exchange and Digital signatures. All cryptography classes presented in the book are part of latest edition of framework just few more algorithms have been added. Cryptography chapters are not useful just for their API coverage, but also because they provide excellent introduction to cryptography itself. Algorithms are presented in understandable way with nice, clean figures.

Part 4 is about security aspects of ASP.NET, COM+ and Log service. Honestly just last chapter (Log service) is useful. Coverage of ASP.NET and COM+ is just on very basic level and COM+ is now in fact dead technology. Last part is reference to all security-related classes. These chapters are not much useful. MSDN documentation is sufficient.

The book uses similar pattern in most chapters. First few pages in each one give you theoretical introduction into technology. After that, there is a presentation of corresponding .NET API and most chapters are finished with complete solution how to customize presented technology. For instance the book contains implementation of custom symmetric and asymmetric algorithms. This pattern is little bit 'dry' especially in Part 2 and 4 but very helpful in cryptography chapters where solid theoretical background is must before you can move to API.

So, I can say, that even 10 years after publication some parts of Programming .NET Security are still valuable. Especially part 3 Cryptography is perfectly valid in .NET 4.5. If you need to use cryptography in your projects, the book gives you great intro into it.

ALERT - This is a must have book!!

You really are not a true .NET Programmer until you understand the security mechanisms that are part and parcel with the framework. To program in .NET (or really any component-oriented technology) without security in mind is like parachuting without one strapped to your back.
I was waiting for a book like this. Before this book I've had to scour over the internet to try to find out how to get the different areas of security in .NET to work. Now it's all here in one book. The theory, the explanations, the warnings, the samples. If you are a serious .NET programmer or .NET policy administrator then this is a must have book. If you don't know the difference between "host evidence" and "assembly evidence", then you need this book. If you don't know the difference between a "security demand" and a "permission request", then you are dangerous to the people you do work for.
Also, make sure you know the basics already of the language and the framework since this book assumes you do. Good luck.

Best .NET security book I've seen

While there is a lot of talk about .NET security, relatively little can be found in terms of documentation, which is one reason why this book is so refreshing. In addition to discussing some of the reasons behind certain security schemes, the theory is explained as well as the C# implementation. While there are some .NET specific security issues discussed (e.g. configuring worker processes), the section on cryptography should be required reading for everyone in the computer industry.
I get really excited about a book when it contains a lot of good information and I am able to actually use it to solve real-world problems. After reading this book, I was able to help solve a really tricky (and politically challenging) security issue quite quickly. If you have anything to do with your company's security systems or write any .NET code, I think this book deserves a place in your reference section. This is certainly the best book on .NET security I have read thus far.

I really liked this book. It has enough information to open your eyes, but not too much to scare you away. This is a book that has to be read slowly and with determination, with many pauses for looking-off-into-the-distance-deep-in-thoughts and practices. In the book Amit Ray continually brings the focus back to the simple and perfect practice of sitting, standing, walking postures and mindfulness. Ray talks as a good spiritual friend. In this book Amit Ray expresses the heart of Yoga and Vipassana in the simplest but most profound ways. Outstanding book!

I have read several books both about Yoga and Vipassana. Many of them very good books but none of them with this very interesting approach of uniting two in order to obtain much more than two! He has the openness to see not only the good things of Yoga and Vipassana but also their limitations and how to compensate them with each other.
The author's scientific background gives a great support to his presentation and also precision, a lot of clarity and organization of his ideas. That makes understanding easier.
I bought the kindle edition but I will order the paper book to use in a better way the very good and helpful charts and diagrams with yoga poses and daily schedules to follow.
I highly recommend this book and hope to continue reading his other books .
I would like to express my gratitude to Dr. Amit. With his book a lot of doubts I had were clarified.

A great book for practicing mindfulness meditation with yoga

This book was recommended to me by my teacher. This is great book to use for practicing meditation and yoga at home. This book introduces all aspects of yoga and vipassana meditation with the right balance of simplicity and depth. Thankfully this book introduces you to yoga and vipassana meditation gently, offering background knowledge.
I liked the nine principles of integrating yoga with vipassana meditation techniques discussed in chapter sixteen. The dynamic yoga exercises are excellent. The step-by-step meditation techniques explained in chapter twenty are easy to follow. The retreat practice for integrated yoga and vipassana are extremely well written.
My mom who has been doing meditation for a long time liked the book so much, I bought her a copy. I loved this book, and highly recommend it.

In The Power of Time Perception, Jean Paul Zogby shows us that time is interlinked with space in fundamental ways and, even more surprising, that the concept of time itself is created by our brain and mind and may very well be the ultimate illusion in a certain sense.
The book is divided into four clear sections: how we experience time, the factors responsible for our individual perception of time, time as experienced in relation to the past and future, and how we can manage or control time to make every second count when needed. This book is a rare find that draws upon various fields and combines the metaphysical, psychological, and neurological aspects of the perception and meaning of time.

I loved reading The Power of Time Perception and, in fact,there is so much information to take in and ponder over that I would probablyre-read certain sections again. I was very surprised to realize how much wetake time for granted and think of it as a fundamental aspect of reality when,in fact, it may or may not be so. But what Jean Paul shows through this book isthat one can learn to make every second count when needed and, basically, makethe most of the life that is given. 
I also loved hearingabout the research conducted in the neurological and scientific fieldspresented in this book. I wrote this book because I am fascinated about time and how we perceive it. I have researched Time Perception for over 6 years now and I am eager to share what neuroscience has to say about that subject. 
In this book, you will read about some of the fascinating, and perhaps seemingly bizarre, experiments scientists have undertaken to understand how we perceive time. These range from putting rats on cocaine, and heating the brain to unbearable temperatures, to pushing students from high platforms,and making them watch nasty spiders! You will explore ways to how time flows in your mind, ways to use it more efficiently, and how to feel good about it rather than feeling a sense of frustration that it is quickly running out.My hope is that by the end of this book, you will have the tools to, in the words of the great poet Rudyard Kipling, "fill the unforgiving minute with sixty seconds' worth of distance run." After all, we only live once and the least we can do is attempt to make every second count.

The most valuable commodity in the 21st century is TIME. "The power of time" by Jean Zogby is written with the intentions of providing an insightful look into how we should not attempt to manage time but to use it, in the best way we can.

The book at first begins to discuss our understanding of what time is and how we experience it. Then it moves onto referencing the psychological perception of the discussing matter and how our brains perceive this valuable commodity in reality.

Some factors influence our time experience, and it is important to live in the moment and in a way take control of the situation by discovering what kind of person you are and how to prevent time from slipping away.

I really enjoyed the part where the author demonstrates mental time travel. I found the topic to be very novel. The approach and analytical debates within the subject were in excellent standing.

Anyone reading this book will have no difficulty following through the steps of creating quality in their life. To make every second count I believe is a hard thing to do especially when you don’t find a second even to stop and make that change. This book, however, assists you in better applying this method and subsequently generating a happier life for the reader.

I recommend this book to people that value their existence and seek quality in their life.

A superb time management book!

Time is a universal commodity yet so many of us don’t understand or utilize it properly. Now, thanks to over six years of research, Jean Paul Zogby is here to help us harness the power of time perception.

Starting with the psychology of how we perceive time, Zogby explains how we sense time, how our brains perceive time, what factors influence our discernment of time, how our personality and emotions determine how we observe time, how our memories alter time and how we can make every second count. Zogby isn’t basing his premise on his beliefs but on scientific research. Blending physics, biology, psychology and personal experience, Zogby teaches us how to quantify time and how best to manage it. It’s not about making lists or eating healthy, it’s all in our awareness of how time works. We have the power within and it’s all a matter of perception.

While there are a few concepts communicated in this book I don’t agree with, the overall theme I wholeheartedly support. Extremely well written, The Power of Time Perception takes time management to an almost spiritual level. Make every second count … a mantra I fully endorse. Highly recommend!

Excellent overview of the perception of time

I was very pleasantly surprised to find this inexpensive book to be very well researched (includes many research citations) and indexed - though regrettably the Indes is not easy to use in the Kindle version because they are physical page references not live ones that take you to the referenced Kindle page. It is generally well written and easy to understand. I learned a lot and hope to make use of some of the ideas put forth by the author.

A Fun Idea, Add Seasonal Interest to Your Cocktails and Gatherings with this Recipe Book

I received this product for free in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.

I have to say, I received this book as part of a set of three items specifically to review. I had a base knowledge of the other products...and while I have heard of bitters, I have never really had much personal experience with them (outside of drinks I've ordered in bars that had bitters in them). It never occurred to me that this was something I could make or that there might be a recipe book out there that I might look for.

I don't do much in the way of drinking these days...but I do enjoy the occasional cocktail. I read through the book and I like the format. What you get is a brief introduction, some information on the “Renaissance”of bitters and an introduction to what you need to start your own bitters “lab.” I have to admit, I really, really like the idea of a bitters lab and managed to conjure up a vision of myself in a lab coat and safety glasses with all of the necessary supplies around me, testing out the recipes. This alone made me quite happy to own the book. I will hence fourth call the recipes formulas...to go with the lab theme.

I am very happy with the arrangement of the remaining information into seasonal sections. The idea of adding some seasonal flavors to drinks is very appealing, not to mention, just plain fun!! I am looking forward to trying out some of the fall and winter recipes in the weeks and months to come. I figure if I start early in each season with one or two recipes, that would give me time to perfect my formulas and try them out alone and with friends.

I'm not a huge fan of any book of recipes or fun ideas that tells me that I need to take meticulous notes...but I definitely see the benefits of taking notes on the formulas you try, so that you can recreate and perfect. The only downside is that each batch requires you to wait...the usual steeping time seems to be 3.5 weeks...so fans of instant gratification (and aren't we all to some degree) won't find that in these pages.

I think this book is ideal for anyone who likes tinkering around in the kitchen, and might be especially suited to someone who already does canning or makes preserves, as you might already have the tools (and the tools needed are readily available and relatively inexpensive) and some of the skills necessary (including patience). It would be great for anyone who likes experimenting with cocktails, enjoys throwing parties (especially seasonal ones), or regularly hosts any kind of club (move, book, game) where food and beverages are part of the experience. It would also make a fantastic gift for anyone listed above. I would definitely recommend it it's accessible, informative and full of great recipes to try, but I think there is likely a limited audience of people who would truly use and enjoy it.

Great read! Delicious recipes! Highly Recommended!

I am very familiar with bitters and love playing around making them so this book was ideal for me. The downside is I hate the taste of alcohol - even the tiniest amount. So I use my bitters in baking and cooking. This way the alcohol evaporates. I love that this book is broken down by seasons and has tips for getting the most flavor out of the produce you use. The author of this book offers a lot of education, guidance and great recipes - so you don't make the bitter than leave it sit on the shelf wondering what to do with it.

I found the book very interesting. The recipes looked great and I have shared some of the recipes with friends already who were super excited to give some of them a try!

The author is truly an expert on the subject. The writing is fantastic and it was an enjoyable read! I highly recommend this book to anyone interested in the subject matter of Bitters!

Fascinating book about handcrafted bitters

This is an excellent educational book about gourmet drinking...bitters are quite the trend these days, and here's basically all you need to know about their use and how to make them for home and professional use. Bitters are the flavoring agent for cocktails. They can be infused, or made into tinctures. The recipes are rather simple. The main effort is in obtaining quality ingredients, and then aging them in vodka or Everclear. The book includes many classic and updated cocktail recipes using the various bitter flavorings. The choices are broken down into seasons for the type of cocktail that is popular at any time of year, in coordination with the fresh ingredients that are available to turn into the bitters being used. I recommend this book to any home bartender who wants to up their game. I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a fair and unbiased review.

Is the occurrence of superconductivity in metals and in certain organic polymers, related to the presence of nerve impulses that propagate within the human brain? Do avalanches in the mountains of Utah and the mudslides in California have anything to do with the folding of protein molecules into their intricate three-dimensional shapes as they are synthesized in the living cell?

At first glance, topics such as these may seem to be unrelated. However, closer examination reveals each to reflect the presence of some particular source of nonlinearity in nature. Advances in obtaining solutions to nonlinear partial differential equations over the past twenty-five years have led to the discovery of an exciting new concept. This concept predicts the emergence of coherent structures that have their own unique nonlinear dynamics. The appearance of such structures in DNA, proteins, membranes and cellular organelles could play a key role in determining life's processes.

Nonlinear Science of Nonlinear Nature

Encyclopedia of Nonlinear Science, edited by A. Scott and just published by Routledge, New York, 2005, as I think, will be one of the most important publications of this year and, probably, of many next years.

Already the first glance at the book strikes by the astonishing variety of topics covered in one volume. This is achieved by effectively combining a mathematically accurate language with the simplicity of presentation, without overloading the material by formulas. Sufficiently simple and transparent presentation makes this book easy to read for

students, starting from the undergraduate level and up, as well as for general scientists interested in grasping the essence of nonlinear phenomena. These phenomena are so common and widespread in Nature, being familiar in Physics, Mathematics, Chemistry, Geology, Medicine, and Social Sciences, that it looks impossible to find any one discipline which would have no

relation to them.

The simplicity and clarity of presentation, combined with a rather precise formulations, make the material of the Encyclopedia available to practically anyone. Those who would wish to go to more detailed studies will find a sufficient list of references to both historical publications as well as to the current scientific literature. The Editor, Alwyn Scott, has made a great job in supporting this nice and rare style combining the clarity and brevity of the entries with their accurateness.

I have no doubt that this Encyclopedia is a must for any

The book like that was long awaited, and the only reason it has not appeared, say, ten years ago, is probably that compiling it would be an enormously demanding task for anyone. Thus, the effort of the Editor, Professor Alwyn Scott, should be highly appreciated.

The Encyclopedia of Nonlinear Science includes an enormous wealth of information in various sciences: mathematics, physics, chemistry, biology, earth sciences, engineering... At the first glance, the book may be perceived as a kaleidoscope of bits and pieces of these sciences. Thus, one may ask, what nonlinear science is and does it exist at all? It does. The basis unifying the problems outlined in the book is that, notwithstanding the huge variety of the phenomena involved, their mathematical description has much in common (nonlinear equations) and, moreover, the terminology ("language") used to characterize qualitative features of the process, such as "oscillations," "waves," "solitons," "chaos," and many others, are equally applicable to numerous natural phenomena as well as to products of human creativity.

Having said that I must also stress that most of the underlying math is simple enough for non-specialists. Actually, the book entries could conditionally be classified into "mathematical," in which basic equations and their solutions are briefly discussed, and "natural," giving a concise description of a variety of natural phenomena. Finally, historical essays should be mentioned, too.

This reference book has been edited and written by high-class professionals. If you are a student, a teacher or instructor in math, physics, chemistry, so on, or you are a researcher, an engineer, or simply a curious individual who wants to help his youngsters to succeed in science, you should consider getting the Encyclopedia.

About the Author
When Dr. Herbert Lockyer (1886–1984) was first deciding on a career, he considered becoming an actor. Tall and well–spoken, he seemed a natural for the theater. But the Lord had something better in mind. Instead of the stage, God called Herbert to the pulpit, where as a pastor, Bible teacher, and author of more than fifty books, he touched the hearts and lives of millions of people.

Dr. Lockyer held pastorates in Scotland and England for twenty–five years. As pastor of Leeds Road Baptist Church in Bradford, England, he became a leader in the Keswick Higher Life Movement, which emphasized the significance of living in the fullness of the Holy Spirit. This led to an invitation to speak at the Moody Bible Institute's fiftieth anniversary in 1936. His warm reception at that event led to his ministry in the United States. He received honorary degrees from both the Northwestern Evangelical Seminary and the International Academy in London.

In 1955, he returned to England, where he lived for many years. He then returned to the United States, where he spent the final years of his life in Colorado Springs, Colorado, with his son, the Rev. Herbert Lockyer Jr., a Presbyterian minister who became his editor
