Victim Of Terrorism Gives 5 Stars

I am a victim of terrorism along with my child. I purchased this book so I could talk more professionally about the subject matter to appropriate authorties. Important in my personal case is the international aspects, especially when it comes to my missing-overseas wrapped within "Al Qaeda," 10 year old son Adrian.

This book goes into good detail about international treaties, treaty violations, comparing how other countries handle terrorism verses the United States and any future legal role a international court such as the International Criminal Court (ICC) may have. It also discusses that in the wake of the terrorists attacks of 9-11, according to treaty, a country is suspposed to prosecute "terrorists," and if they don't the country could be subject to sanctions under the United Nations Security Counsil. Hopefully in my personal case situation, that will happen, & if so, then perhaps the United States will learn their lesson about how dangerous it is to the public to plea bargin "terrorists," instead of legally prosecuting them.

This is a excellent and well written book on the subject, especially if you are interested in foreign affarirs. I highly recommend it for any counterterrorism library.

I'm a expert victim of terrorism, therefore I have a unique perspective issues related to Counter-terrorism, Homeland Security, and National Security issues.

James Beckman does a excellent job explaining in professional terms what I would call "stupidity in America," when it comes to handling terrorism. His inclusion of how foreign countries handle these same issues makes it easy for the reader to make a international comparison. A must read for anyone with interest in the subject matter.

About the Author
Alan W. Watts, who held both a master’s degree in theology and a doctorate of divinity, is best remembered as an interpreter of Zen Buddhism in particular, and of Indian and Chinese philosophy in general. Standing apart, however, from sectarian membership, he has earned the reputation of being one of the most original and “unrutted” philosophers of the twentieth century. Watts was the author of some twenty books on the philosophy and psychology of religion that have been published in many languages throughout the world, including the bestselling The Way of Zen. An avid lecturer, Watts appeared regularly on the radio and hosted the popular television series, Eastern Wisdom and Modern Life,in the 1960s. He died in 1973.

A must read…

Alan Watts is one of the most profound thinkers of the 20th century, in my opinion. I've read many of his books over the years & with the advent of the Internet & specifically YouTube listened to the many recorded lectures & talks he gave over the years. This is one of his best books I think. He makes esoteric topics like mysticism & eastern religions somewhat understandable for the western mind & this book is no exception. Highly recommended.

One of his best!

One does not complete this book. This book serves as a constant reference to not only spiritually, but just generally for life's ills and triumphs. Watts exemplifies his ability to engage the reader so directly in easy to understand language and conceptually simple examples, while still being broad enough to suggest his wisdom for the majority of one's spiritual, emotional and cognitive queries.

Roman Women: More Than Meets the Eye

This short volume does a very good job of examining the purposes of dress, ornamentation, and scent for women in ancient Rome. Just as it is today, how a person presents herself makes numerous statements about the person, her place in society (or her desired place in society), her family, and her society. Although the author repeats herself occasionally, overall this is an interesting and engaging book on Roman women and their presentation of themselves to themselves and to society.

If you want to improve your combinatorics skills and get better in graph theory then this is the book to buy.

This book is probably the most advanced book that I will recommend in the whole series. But it's so good that I just had to recommend it as soon as possible and put it in spot #10. This book is written in problem-hint-solution style. Problems take the first 100 pages, followed by hints and solutions in the next 500 pages. Lovasz starts off with simple problems that anyone can solve and quickly moves to more advanced problems. There is no theory in this book.

Every once in a while when I feel like doing some math I work through a couple of problems. I've found that problem-hint-solution style is perfect for quickly learning new problem solving techniques. If you want to improve your combinatorics skills and get better in graph theory, and you love to solve problems then this is the book to buy.

Funny story - I've heard that the first year PhD students in Hungary (where the author is from) are required to work through all the problems in this book. Those who can't solve the problems don't make it to second year of PhD studies.

A must have for serious GPs

I have the English version of this book. It is an excellent text exhibiting the wealth of clinical experience of Dr Murtagh. Common conditions (as well as not so common maladies) encountered by GPs are dealt with in-depth. Murtagh approaches the topics with a practical, clinical approach; the GP will find the book extremely digestible and applicable to their daily practice. I find the "common pitfalls" section very useful. It allows us to think laterally when approaching an apparently simple condition. If you need a book to enhance your clinical knowledge and skills, this book is the one.

The best book for general medicine I ever read. The older version in this 3rd edition gives the chance to read the book completely-the successor is already too big and one gets lost. The condition for an used book is very good, the seller can just be praised.
